Save Our Cats and Kittens is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding forever homes for unwanted cats and kittens in this area. We take them in from military families, from people who are suddenly homeless, from the elderly who can no longer care for them, or when a family member passes away. Sadly, we also take them when they are found on the street, left behind in a move, or dumped at our doorstep.
We have been doing this since our founder, Sara DeMonbrun, saw the need in 1993 and started it from her home. Over the years, we have found homes for thousands of cats and kittens that otherwise would have faced an uncertain future at animal control, or a miserable, abbreviated life on the street.
SOCKS has also prevented thousands of unwanted kittens from being born in the first place by spaying or neutering every cat or kitten before it is adopted. Many families have turned to us when they had nowhere else to go.
Our ability to help people and the cats and kittens in our area is completely dependent upon the tax-deductible financial support of the community, as we do not receive any type of government funding.
