Two Kittens Thrown From Moving Vehicle;
One Woman Reacts To Help Them
Dawn Sisson took action when others did not. She spotted the two kittens being thrown from the moving vehicle like used fast food wrappers. Dawn saw them get hit by the second car - one fatally injured, the other trying desperately to escape the same fate. The driver of that vehicle either did not know or did not care that their vehicle had run over two living creatures. Not thinking about her own safety, she dodged moving vehicles at a busy intersection in the heat of the afternoon traffic. She grabbed both kittens out of further harms way and took them where she knew they would be helped - Save Our Cats and Kittens. The shelter is near the end of the very road these kittens were tossed onto, Carmel Drive, so she didn’t have to drive very far.
Shelter workers rushed the kittens to the Emerald Coast Animal Hospital where, sadly, the most severely injured kitten died almost immediately. The second kitten was saved, but had to have her front leg removed.
The good news is that, thanks to Dawn’s quick action and the excellent care she received at Emerald Coast Animal Hospital, the survivor, is making a quick recovery. Despite the cruelty she suffered at the hands of someone masquerading as a human being, she holds no grudges and is very sweet and loving. She already had many admirers under consideration to take her to her forever home.

SOCKS supporter Pauline Blair alerted us to these two young girls, Katerina and Alia, who are inspired by the story of their own kitty to help the surviving kitten. Thank you to Robbyn Brooks for giving these girls the attention they deserve.
