The Crestview Kitty Group is undergoing some changes. Now known as the Animal Justice Rally Group, they have a new name, a new website, but the same determination to be the voice of the victims of animal cruelty and to make a difference. Check them out at www.animaljusticerallygroup.weebly.com and help them make a stand for abused animals!

SOCKS Thrift Store

Our Thrift Store is a major source of income providing funds for the care of the cats and kittens at the Shelter. Thank you for continuing to support us by donating items to the Thrift Shop and by shopping there, as well. Check this site often to find out what is going on at the shop and tell your friends!

Amazon.com link to support the website

You might have noticed a new link at the bottom of this page for “Amazon.com Deal of the Day.” Click this link and SOCKS earns a small amount of money each time. If you actually purchase something via the link, SOCKS earns a little more. All proceeds will go towards the cost of maintaining this website.

It’s Kitten Season!

It will be raining cats and kittens at SOCKS pretty soon. Already some new arrivals have been dropped off. Check out the photo album for the cuties that are ready (or soon to be) for new homes.

PARADE's All-America High School Service Team!

Kat, a longtime SOCKS volunteer at the age of 16, is receiving another national honor for her volunteerism. Read all about it in the June 6th, 2010, edition of Parade Magazine, or HERE at Parade.com. The Daily News also did a story on Kat in Friday’s paper, June 4, 2010, which you can read HERE.

It’s been a big week for Kat (and SOCKS!) since she was also notified by DoSomething.org that she has been selected as one of their Do Something and ASPCA Animal Action Grant Winners. Do Something is an organization that empowers teenagers and young people to improve their communities. (Read more about them HERE.) The grant is for $500 dollars and Kat tells us she plans to use it as a start on yet another project to benefit the SOCKS shelter.

Save Our Cats and Kittens appreciates all the good work Do Something inspires and facilitates nationwide. And thank you in particular for recognizing Kat’s diligence and rewarding it with a grant.
