To All Our SOCKS Adopters - Past, Present & Future: Enter your pet in the BISSELL Most Valuable Pet (MVP)Contest and Save Our Cats and Kittens could receive a $10,000 donation from BISSELL Homecare Inc!

Enter your pet in the BISSELL Most Valuable Pet (MVP) Contest at http://mvp.bissell.com/ . Our friends at BISSELL are accepting pet photos from the public through March 25, 2010.   In addition to having your pet featured on BISSELL pet product packaging, the lucky winning pet parents will receive a $500 shopping spree AND a $10,000 donation to the pet cause of their choice. (And we hope that would be Save Our Cats and Kittens!)

Four runners up will also be featured on BISSELL packaging and have donations of $5,000 or $1,000 made to their favorite pet cause.

Submit a photo of your most valuable pet at http://mvp.bissell.com/ and then encourage everyone you know to vote for him. Not only could your cat be named MVP, he could be responsible for helping many more unadopted cats at SOCKS (like Tinsel and her buddy pictured below) by selecting SOCKS as your favorite pet cause.  Winners will also receive a BISSELL pet-cleaning product.

The Crestview Kitty Group is undergoing some changes. Now known as the Animal Justice Rally Group, they have a new name, a new website, but the same determination to be the voice of the victims of animal cruelty and to make a difference. Check them out at www.animaljusticerallygroup.weebly.com and help them make a stand for abused animals!

Amazon.com link to support the website

You might have noticed a new link at the bottom of this page for “Amazon.com Deal of the Day.” Click this link and SOCKS earns a small amount of money each time. If you actually purchase something via the link, SOCKS earns a little more. All proceeds will go towards the cost of maintaining this website.

The Shelter Has Some Specific Needs - Can You Help?

The shelter always welcomes donations of any kind. We currently have some specific needs that we hope you can help us with.

  1. The digital camera finally began malfunctioning and no longer works. We depend on it to get photos uploaded to Petfinder to help speed adoptions.

  2. An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a necessity for a computer in this area. With spring coming up and the unpredictable nature of lightning storms, it is more important than ever to have our computer connected to a UPS. A four outlet capacity is preferable, but anything we can get to protect our computer system would be appreciated.

  3. Portable air purifiers

  4. Swiffer dusters and cleaning wipes to help keep the dust under control. You can imagine how much dust all these litter boxes generate!

  5. Printer paper, ink for an HP DeskJet 722c

  6. If you can help with any of these items or have questions about them, please email us at socks@saveourcatsandkittens.com.
